We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant within the English and Maths department.
The college has a number of students with a wide range of additional support needs. The age range encompasses 14 years to the mature adult learner. To ensure students have the opportunity to maximize their learning potential, English Learning Support Assistants provide in-class support for individuals and small groups. English Learning Support Assistants work as part of the English and Maths department and are flexible, responsive and complete routine administration as part of the post.

Duties:
- To assist students to take a full part in learning activities on equal terms with other students in lessons.
- To support students with their identified provision in line with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- To support the students in their physical needs, mobility and health and safety as appropriate. Training will be provided where appropriate.
- To work with course lecturers to ensure the students are successfully included in to the college environment.
Skills/Experience:
- An ability to interact professionally with young people
- An ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent administrative capabilities i.e. accurate record keeping
- The ability to deal with challenging situations and behaviours and to respond effectively
Qualifications:
- Minimum GCSE Grade 4 /C or Equivalent Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English
Ideal Attributes:
- Relevant qualification to support role in classroom (e.g. Teaching Assistant Level 2/3)
